How to apply:
1. Complete and submit an online application form.
2. Create and submit your audition recording (CD or MP3).
The participants
Young musicians 16-25 years of age are invited to send audition recordings. We will be accepting applications from youth ensembles as well as from individual players. We can accommodate all strings and a limited number of exceptional wind and brass players as well. If you do not see your instrument listed below, feel free to inquire!
Music Director Dr. Thomas Loewenheim will be accepting participants in the following categories. If your instrument is not included here, be sure to ask anyway!
10 Violins
4-6 Violas
4-5 Cellos
1-2 Basses
1-2 Oboes (English horn)
1-2 Bassoons
1-2 Trumpets
1-2 French Horns (transposition fluency required)

NOTE: California applicants can attend a shortened version of the Festival (May 25-27). Contact us at office@youthorchestrasresno.org to make arrangements. And be sure to fill out an application form!
Application deadline:
A completed application and audition recording MUST be sent if you want to be considered as a participant. Thank you!
Cost (full session):
$300 USD, plus travel to and from Fresno; pocket money to cover personal incidental expenses
Short-session applicants, members of other CA youth orchestras, and fellowship applicants please contact office@youthorchestrasfresno.org for adjusted fees.
Financial aid is available. Contact office@youthorchestrasfresno.org for information.
Accommodations:
Youth Orchestras of Fresno families
Arrival: Fresno Yosemite International airport (or Fresno Amtrak station, or anywhere you designate in Fresno if you are driving) no later than 22:00 on Tuesday, May 22 (short-session applicants please let us know your plans--there are full-orchestra rehearsals on Thursday and Friday evenings, May 24 and 25)
Departure: Fresno Yosemite International airport (or Fresno Amtrak station, or anywhere you designate in Fresno if you are driving) on Monday, May 28
Auditions:
Applicants are asked to submit audition recordings.
